Top 10 trending phones of week 35

Image
Apple confirmed the announcement date for its iPhone 17 series and the specs page of the iPhone 17 Pro Max immediately became the most searched in our database. It pushed the Redmi Note 15 Pro+ to second, while the Samsung Galaxy A17 gained a couple of spots to complete the podium. [#InlinePriceWidget, 13987, 1#] The Samsung Galaxy A56 retained its fourth spot as the Google Pixel 10 Pro in fifth, made it four different makers in the top 5. The Galaxy S25 Ultra came in sixth, followed by the Pixel 10 Pro XL. The iPhone 17 is coming on September 9, Galaxy S25 FE rumors, Week 35 in review

Image
Apple made it official - the iPhone 17 series' announcement, among is coming on September 9. At the event, Apple will unveil the iPhone 17, iPhone 17 Air, iPhone 17 Pro, and iPhone 17 Pro Max. The tagline Apple chose for this event is "awe-dropping" - get it? The Galaxy S26 Ultra's battery capacity was tipped in a certification filing, and it's the same as the Galaxy S25 Ultra's - a rated capacity of 4,855mAh, which translates to a typical capacity of 5,000mAh. At least we could still hope for faster 65W charging. Realme showed us two concepts during its 828 Fan Festival in China. The... from GSMArena.com - Latest articles https://ift.tt/RipZlSB

Weekly poll results: Pixel 10 and 10 Pro score high, 10 Pro XL not so much, Pro Fold in trouble

Image
Last week’s poll shows that the four Pixel 10 models will go on different trajectories – and not all of them are pointed towards success. A broad view of the series shows that price is a concern – Google didn’t raise the prices compared to the 9-series, but many people have trouble justifying the cost. Even though availability is still limited to only select markets, this didn’t prove to be a huge issue. Google’s battery woes (most visible in the a-series) have given it a bad reputation. Worse, the news that Pixel 10 phones will start to gradually restrict battery capacity and... from GSMArena.com - Latest articles https://ift.tt/CEgLVSk

Deals: Samsung Galaxy S25 series, S24 FE discounted, OnePlus 13 and 13R also on sale

Image
On Thursday next week, Samsung will unveil the Galaxy S25 FE and the new Galaxy Tab S11 flagship slates. There are no official details for the S25 FE yet, but we’ve seen leaks and we can guess that it will be an evolution of last year’s S24 FE with a new chipset. Speaking of the Galaxy S24 FE, it started at $650 for the base 8/128GB model and we can expect the S25 FE to cost the same or thereabouts – plus some pre-order perks, of course (perhaps the new Galaxy Buds3 FE). Of course, the old S24 FE no longer costs as much as it did back then – you can grab one for $460 right now. But should... from GSMArena.com - Latest articles https://ift.tt/kMEBeRd

Samsung is getting its chip licenses revoked in China

Image
Samsung and SK Hynix seem to be caught in a crossfire between the US-China trade war, as the two chip manufacturers are getting their licenses revoked by the US Commerce Department and won't be able to use new equipment in their Chinese factories. Samsung and SK Hynix both have chip manufacturing facilities in several countries, including China. The interesting bit about the Chinese factories, however, is the fact that Samsung, for example, produces legacy chips over there, leaving the production of high-end chips in South Korea and the US. The US is a key partner in the chip... from GSMArena.com - Latest articles https://ift.tt/1rGnNiO

TCL NxtPaper 60 Ultra 5G listed ahead of official IFA debut

Image
TCL is getting ready to unveil a new smartphone at IFA in Berlin in the next few days, it seems. The device, called NxtPaper 60 Ultra 5G, has now been listed by Amazon Germany ahead of the official announcement. The listing tells us that the device has a 7.2-inch FHD+ NxtPaper screen with 120Hz refresh rate, 12GB of RAM, 256GB of storage, and a "long lasting battery" that unfortunately isn't detailed any further. In the box you only get a USB-C cable, no charger. The phone runs Android 15, disappointingly since Android 16 was released by Google in June. Motorola Edge 60 Neo, G06, and G06 Power official renders leak

Samsung's Exynos 2600 runs Geekbench again with improved scores

Image
Back in July, Samsung's Exynos 2600 chipset was spotted in the Geekbench online database with some less than impressive results - a 2,155 single-core score and a 7,788 multi-core score. Today the chip has run the benchmark again, with much improved scores, and ones that finally live up to its flagship level. This time, it managed a 3,309 single-core score and an 11,256 multi-core score, so Samsung is definitely tweaking things for the better, seeing as how these results are close to Apple's M3 and beat Qualcomm's Snapdragon 8 Elite. Earlier this month, a rumor hinted that Tecno will be bringing the Spark Slim concept phone to India, but under a different name. It appears that the phone will debut as the Tecno Pova Slim 5G, but will otherwise be very similar to the concept. Google Pixel 10 in for review

Image
Google has begun shipping the first Pixel 10 pre-orders, and we've got the Pixel 10 in for review! Ours is the Indigo, and it's the loveliest shade of blue. Unsurprisingly, the Pixel 10 ships in a recycled paper box with nothing more than a USB-C cable. What is a bit surprising is the cameras. Google made a bold choice to incorporate a zoom camera in its base Pixel this year, and we're all for it! The 10.8MP 1/3.2-inch sensor (112mm, f/3.1, 5x) isn't as good, on paper, as the 48MP 1/2.55-inch (113mm, f/2.8, 5x) telephoto on the Pixel 10 Pro and Pro XL, but it's more than a welcome... from GSMArena.com - Latest articles https://ift.tt/o2AB15E

iPhone shipments will help the smartphone market grow this year, IDC predicts

Image
The smartphone market will grow 1% in 2025 compared to 2024, IDC now predicts, and this growth will be driven by iPhone shipments, which are expected to be up 3.9% year-on-year (YoY). IDC expects the total number of smartphone shipments to reach 1.24 billion this year. The 1% growth prediction is an improvement from the analyst house's previous forecast of 0.6%, and the difference seems to be more or less entirely down to iPhones being expected to sell better. Healthy replacement demand will push growth into 2026, when the market is predicted to ship 1.2% more units than this year.... from GSMArena.com - Latest articles https://ift.tt/U0uF7nt

Samsung Notes updated with landscape support, other improvements

Image
One UI 8 was a major overhaul of Samsung’s user interface, but the company’s first-party apps are getting their own improvements too - it’s not just the base UI. For example, the Samsung Notes app just got an updated version with two new features and some bug fixes. The two major additions are support for landscape layout and support for sticky notes. The former refers to creating notes with the “page” oriented horizontally, not having the option to use the app in landscape orientation (which was already supported). LG is pushing Apple to use the iPad Pro's Tandem OLED tech in future iPhones

Image
Apple's newest iPad Pros are using Tandem OLED display panels provided primarily by LG Display, and the Korean company has been trying to convince Apple to take the same tech and put it into future iPhones. It hasn't succeeded thus far, but according to a new report, Apple might incorporate Tandem OLED panels in the 2028 iPhones (so presumably the iPhone 20 family - or will that be XX?). iPhone 17 Pro reverse wireless charging probably isn't happening

Image
Yesterday a rumor (in Chinese) claimed the upcoming iPhone 17 Pro and Pro Max would get reverse wireless charging support, in a first for any Apple smartphone ever. Don't take out the champagne just yet, though. Google just launched the Pixel 10 family with Qi2 wireless charging with built-in magnets - this is essentially the same tech that Apple uses under the MagSafe brand, since Apple practically open-sourced it a few years back in a bid to get it to be the industry standard, which it now is. Leakster Smart Pikachu has some good news for those that didn’t love the quad-curved display of the 2024 model – Xiaomi is going with a flat panel this time.
